Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has confirmed that red-hot FK
Ventspils striker Adeleke Akinyemi may be handed a maiden call-up to
the Nigeria National Team for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations
qualifier against Seychelles.
The German football tactician observed the 19-year-old at close
quarters in FK Ventspils’ 2-1 loss to Bordeaux in the Europa League
qualifiers last Thursday and was impressed by his qualities after
scoring his 20th goal of the season against a very competitive
opponent.
”I just discovered the player because he has not been in Europe for
long. He left directly from an academy, not a club, in Nigeria,” Rohr
told girondins4ever.com

”He has not featured for the Nigerian youth teams or the Nigerian
League. I saw his statistics, and I thought I had to look at him.
”And indeed, he was good. He has qualities, I may invite him one of
these days, perhaps for the next game. I like him.”
Gernot Rohr was associated with Bordeaux for 21 years, 12 as a player
and 9 in different functions including manager, and he has recommended
that the Ligue 1 club should make a move for Akinyemi.
”They watched the game, monitored him. That means they take him very
seriously. I think it would be worth it to recruit him, downright. I
think so personally.
”He is a player who is very young, who does not cost much. He
certainly has a huge room for improvement. He is powerful, he gets
inside, he scores goals. It’s still rare to have all these
qualities,” Rohr added.
Lokosa back to Kano Pillars after failed trials in Norway
NPFL leading scorer Junior Lokosa has back to Kano Pillars after he
was not given a contract by Norwegian club SK Brann.
“Lokosa has resumed training with the team this morning,” Pillars
spokesman Idris Malikawa informed SCORENigeria
“The management has advised him on his return to be patient and remain
focused on his career.”
Lokosa has scored 19 goals in the 24-week-old NPFL, which earned him a
Super Eagles cap against DR Congo before the World Cup in Russia.
He previously tried to get a contract at Bulgarian club PFC
Ludogorets, before he tried out with Brann late last month.
Moses Simon joins La Liga side Levante in a five-year deal
Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has joined Levante UD for 4.5 million
pounds after he passed a routine medical with the La Liga club on
Monday.
Levante were locked with French Ligue 1 Saint Etienne in the chase for
the KAA Gent winger, who missed the recent World Cup in Russia no
thanks to a thigh injury.
He was also linked with clubs in England and Germany.
Gent have already signed a direct replacement for the fast wide man,
who has made it very clear that he wishes to move on.
He won the Belgian league with Gent in his first season after his
transfer from Slovak club AS Trencin.
Simon moved to Levante UD for about five million Euros, which is a
figure far from the 20 million Euros a top official had predicted KAA
Gent will eventually sell him.
Gent sports director Michel Louwagie proudly predicted that his club
with break transfer records when they eventually sell the Nigeria
winger after they bought him from Slovak club AS Trencin for 650,000
Euros in January 2015.
“The transfer record in Belgium will have to be shattered when we sell
Moses. We will be talking of about 20 million Euros,” Louwagie
predicted.
The prediction was prompted by the fact that Moses was an instant
sensation in Belgium.
But the player will go on to suffer injuries and lack of consistency
for such huge hope not to be fulfilled in the three and a half seasons
he was there.
Altogether, he scored 21 goals and provided 18 assists in 136
appearances for ‘The Buffaloes’.
‘Daddy’ has now been handed a five-year deal by Levante to finally
live up to his potentials in Spain.
