As Nigeria steps into another four year journey of President-Muhammadu-Buhari-led-APC-administration, many nigerians have started reacting to “Sai Baba’s” victory.

Despite the fact that the camp of the main opposition of President Buhari, led by former vice-president Atiku Abubakar has refused to concede defeat and congratulate the president-elect, claiming the electoral process was marred by irregularities and manipulations, it appears that many nigerians are quite optimistic and confident that the next four years will usher the nation into the “next level of development” as reiterated by Buhari himself.

A cross-section of nigerians who spoke to hotjist.com after the declaration of the incumbent president as the winner of the 2019 presidential poll by INEC, believe the victory is well deserved and reflect the desire of majority of the people for a better Nigeria.

The respondents however urged the president to see the next four years as another opportunity to consolidate on his effort in the last four years; better the economy, rejig his cabinet and get rid of bad eggs, deliberately uproot corruption without fear or favour, and most importantly foster unity in the nation.

“First I like congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice. For me, it’s a victory well deserved.

This new term (4 years), I look forward to a better Nigeria, with improvements in the economy, good employment system, and continuous work in the power and transportation system too.

More importantly, I expect the 9th Senate to be a better and improved one, now that we’ll be having a new senate president. I believe that with a cordial relationship between the Legislative and Executive arms, issues will be solved swiftly and we’ll have a better Nigeria.

Once again, congratulations to the President and the entire Nigerians.

This is glory for the nation.” – Abidemi Paul

“I know is Jehovah didn’t allow him, he will not be there. I think he has good things for us

I admire his way of governance

More employment, improvement in our academic sector, steady power supply, good security.” – Barisuka Burabari from Bauchi

“Since all most everybody has been praying about the election let’s all accept  GMB as a will of God.

“I want GMB to positivity take NIGERIA to Next Level They has been saying.

I pray that the lord should perfect his healing so that he can Flight corruption and bring development to our country.” – Joseph Musa from Adamawa

“This time around, it is obvious that Nigerians have decided despite the pockets of violence and the few glitches here and there. One can only hope and pray that the Buhari-led administration improve upon, and even do far better than, what it has done in the first term now that the leader has been given another chance to steer the ship of the nation; the confidence the Nigerian citizenry reposes in him through their 15,191,847 votes must never ever be taken for granted. Thanks” – Oluwatomisin Arthur Amokeoja

“I am happy for him naturally. I believe he had and has good intentions albeit his intentions are often frustrated by the “system” and pace of progress.

I hope, more than I believe, that he’ll use this term to invest more in infrastructural development, more importantly in the our power sector, roads, agriculture, IT….

I pray he succeeds ultimately” – Kehinde Peters

“My expectations is he should redouble efforts to complete all critical infrastructural projects such as 2NB, Lagos-Kano rail, Mambila Hydro, PH-Maiduguri rail” – Lateef Salami

“Glory be to God Almighty for the emergence of President Buhari for a second term. It was a very tough period of canvassing for votes from the people. Those of us who believed in his candidacy were thoroughly bashed by people who felt he doesn’t deserve another term. But we are seeing differently. I really appreciate God for the good health he granted him to scale through the rigour of campaigns. You know what they will be saying by now if he was not able to go for the campaign, touring round the 36 States of the Federation as a 76 year old man is not easy. We thank God.

My expectations are simply:

He should consolidate on the achievements he had made on the as areas of security, fight Against Corruption and the Economy. He should move on to be more benevolently ruthless with those who have looted our Commonwealth. I expect more convictions of the corrupt Elements in the system. I expect him to look round now and select well-meaning individuals who believe in the course he is fighting for and bring them into the Government to help him run the country. He should remove those who are not capable in his cabinet and replace them immediately. Buhari Must not make the mistake he made during the election of the Senate President of the 8th Assembly by trying to be neutral. You know that costed him a lot. I expect him to work harder to getting Leah Sharibu back from captivity.

My expectations are much but let him start with these.”  – Pa Solomon.

President Buhari emerged as the winner of the 2019 presidential election having won a total number of 15, 191, 847 votes from all the 36 states in the country and the FCT, beating his closest opponent, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, who polled 11, 262, 978 votes. APC’s Buhari won in 19 states of the federation, while the former vice-president had victory in 17 states including the FCT.

Muhammadu Bughari is expected to be presented with the certificate of return by the INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, by 2pm today, Wednesday.
