JJT: A PARK TO VISIT WITHOUT REGRETS

Johnson Jakande Tinubu, JJT Park is one of the numerous Parks in Lagos, built by Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, in honour of past Governors of Lagos State – Brigadier Mobolaji Olufunsho Johnson Rtd, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande and Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

JJT Park is Located at Alausa, Ikeja Lagos, opposite Lagos State House of Assembly, it occupies a total land area of approximately 21,800 square meters and built to international standard in recognition of the trios who has done tremendously well in upholding the unity and development of Lagos State.

The recreational park was named after Brigadier Mobolaji Olufunsho Johnson rtd, who was the first Military Governor of Lagos State, May 1967 – July 1975. Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, first civilian Governor of Lagos State, October 1979 – December 1983. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Former Governor and architect of modern Lagos, May 1999 – May 2007.

The naming of the park after the three legends, was done to constantly remind us of the sacrifices of our heroes and to serve as a source of inspiration for all other leaders, who would have the honour and priviledge to occupy the seat that was once occupied by them.

The facilities available at the park include; two water falls, Children’s playground, Free Wifi, to mention a few.

JJT Park may serve as an events venue for family funfair, birthday celebration, wedding celebration, pre-wedding shots and all sorts of lawful gathering to those who prefer a mini and open air celebrations. The Park has the capacity to accommodate 700 persons with enough parking spaces.

While in JJT, guests can easily glance through all the 54 flags of the Africa countries with Nigeria’s flag standing tall above others. Also underneath each flags are the Name, Capital, Currency, Call Code and Independence Day of the country.

At the centre of the recreation park is a sculpture of the three legends with an epitaph of the 20 Local Government Area in Lagos State. The Eyo masquerade effigy was boldly crafted and positioned at the entrance of the park, birds net was strategically placed at the right side of the entrance to bring the chirping sound of nature to the park. Also a floor Chess game is available for the lovers of the game.

The right place to recuperate your calmness and rejuvenate your spirit is Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park, JJT. It is free, quiet and beautiful to behold, tempting to relax and engaging to save you from boredom.
