It seems lagosians are not ready to take a ‘chill-pill’ with the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu as many are already mounting serious pressure on him about four months since his inauguration into office.

In reaction to the statement made by the governor during his Independence Day Speech at “The Platform” event, saying “four months is too short to measure the impact of [his] administration”, some have said that four months is not too short for a leader who knows what he’s doing.

Speaking with Hotjist.com, a trader, Mr John said, during  Ambode’s regime, he did not ‘wait’ for four months to embark on meaniful and landmark projects; “Lagosians are frustrated and its not supposed to be so, we are still managing everything that has been done by Ambode despite having a new leader”.

Mr John also mentioned that Ambode did well but was not given enough time to actualize the dreams he has for Lagos.

A real estate agent, Mr Obinna also said, the Governor saying Ambode left Lagos in a financial mess is really not an excuse, according to him Lagos is a mega City and one of the richest cities in Africa, so, “there are numerous ways of generating funds in Lagos”.

Obinna also mentioned that four months is not too small for any reliable Governor. “He has already mapped out his plans before assuming office and from the very first day he should have started finding ways of actualizing his manifesto” he told hotjist.com.

Another business man who plies his trade around Ikeja, Mr Olajide said, even if four months is not enough at least Lagosians need a reassurance that there is still hope. he also said there is always an agenda before anyone contests an election and every month spent in office counts.

Mr Samson who is a security operative told Hotjist that lagosians expected more form the Governor in his first 100 days because his predecessor Ambode was already making changes in his first few months as a governor, pointing also at the achievements of the Oyo state Governor Makinde who has already been making remarkable impact in his own state.

However, Miss Tomiwa opined that Lagosians do not judge the Governor, because he is just starting out.”we don’t know his plans yet but i believe it is looks promising” she said and added that the Ex-governor Ambode is not at fault because he was trying to achieve a lot of projects and that could have been a reason for the financial pot-hole.

A trader Mrs Ajani also said that Lagosians need too chill, she said the situation is like taking a Baby to school and expecting the toddler to start reading in the first few months. When asked what her thoughts was on whether Ambode left Lagos in a financial mess she said “that one can only be between Ambode and God”.

Addressing lagosians on October 1st, Sanwo-Olu said, “We have to look at the finances of the State. But, I know I cannot give excuses to Lagosians that I met the State in financial mess. It would amount to meaningless stories. And nobody will never know the real status of finances of any State until they get there. It is until I got there that I realised how bad we are in terms of outstanding liabilities, financial commitments to local banks and Federal Government’s bonds.”

He cautioned those passing judgment on his four-month old government with a charge that the period was “too short” to measure the impact of the administration. The Governor said he believed in proper planning of key programmes before implementation of decisions that would affect the lives of the people.
