ENGLAND SINKS BULGARIA DESPITE RACIST FAN INTERACTION

England thrashed Bulgaria 6-0 in Sofia on Monday in a Euro 2020 Group A clash, despite the game being marred by racist incidents in the first half.

The match which was played at the Vasil Levski stadium was halted a few times by the referee in the first half as a UEFA protocol to tackle racist abuse from the crowd.

Racist chanting was heard from the Bulgarian supporters stands and was reported by England players to manager Gareth Southgate, after informing the refree, public announcements were made on two occasions.

However, England midfielder Ross Barkley found the back of the net twice after Marcus Rashford had opened the scoring in the seventh minute.

Southgate’s side highlighted the gap in quality with the hosts before Raheem Sterling struck just before half-time.
