According to a statement issued by the Lagos State Government, the accident happened when the victim was effecting the arrest of an O-pay motorcyclist for riding along the BRT lane in Ojota. The statement also revealed that the victim was taking the confiscated motorcycle to a LASTMA office in Oshodi when he was accidentally knocked down by a Primero bus which took off immediately, leaving the officer unconscious. The injured officer is however receiving treatments at a general hospital where his condition was stabilized. While speaking about the incident Adebisi said that he was negotiating to join the service lane on Ikorodu road when he heard screeches. He said “that was the last thing I remembered, I regained consciousness and found myself being rushed by several people without being able to explain whats going on”. Meanwhile a similar incident had been reported on Saturday about another LASTMA officer Ola Oyeshina, who died after he was attacked by two trailer drivers in Apapa Lagos. However the Special Adviser To the Governor on Transportation, Mr Toyin Fayinka has condemned the attack on the LASTMA officials which he described as a “Dastardly act”. “I condemn in strong terms any form of violence on LASTMA officials deployed by the state to manage traffic on the roads. any attack on any government official, be it Police, LASTMA, VIS, ETC will no longer be condoned.” He further said that the Lagos state Government have always operated an open door policy in punishing errant offenders.
