COMMUNITY GIST CRIME NEWS KWARA CHIEF IN TROUBLE FOR PARADING HIMSELF AS KING By Admin Posted on January 23, 2020 2 min read 0 0 76 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Pinterest One Chief Sunday Ayantola has been sentenced to one year imprisonment by a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin for parading himself as the King of Ayedun in the Ekiti local Government Area of the State without being recognised or appointed. Ayantola was charged to court by the state government following complaints from members of the community over his moves parading himself as the king without being appointed. This offence committed by Ayantola is contrary to section 16(2) of the Kwara State Chieftaincy Law and Section 158 of the Penal Code” and it is punishable under the same law. However, the trial judge Justice Taoheed Umar, sentenced Ayantola to one year non-custodial imprisonment and was also ordered to sign an undertaking that compels him to ensure peace and orderliness in the community. In his judgement, Justice Taoheed Umar said Umar declared himself as “His Royal Majesty, Obaoye of Iwoye” shortly after the paramount ruler of the community ,obajisun of Ayedun, Dr Olusegun Rotimi appointed him as his second-in-command. Ayantola was ordered to desist from causing division in the community , it says ” Iwoye is not a different town from Ayedun, Evidence before me is that Ayedun kingdom is made up of three wards which are Ikotun, Iwoye and Odo-Ila and Iwoye is just a ward or quarter in Ayedun under the Obajisun” Ayantola was also asked to report every first Monday of the month to the Ilorin Police Station for one year.
