A policewoman, Sergeant Wunmi Ige of the Ajuwon Police Station, Akute, Ogun State has been accused by a social media user for demanding N500 before she can have access to her younger brother who was detained at the station.

In a social media post made by the elder sister of the detainee; she wrote “I went to the police station dis morning in respect to my nephew who was accused of stealing a phone. At the time of the incident yesterday, Friday (between 3pm and 4pm) he was home cos his friend came to visit and they were together. Around 6.30pm and 7pm, he went out to buy something and came back to drop it and stepped out to the frontage of the house that was when he was dragged to the police station. I went there dis morning but the police officers at the counter said except i pay #500 or go buy Izal and tissue paper for them. Up till now I was denied access. Is this right?”
