Premier League leaders had their unbeaten run shattered in an embarrassing manner by losing three-nil 19th placed Watford FC in a match played at Vicarage Road this evening.

Coming into match, Liverpool had garnered 79 points from 27 matches while Watford placed 19th and second from bottom had only 24 points from 27 matches.

Bookmakers had predicted an easy win for the league leaders considering that they have not lost a premiership match since January 2019.

With the first half ending goalless, Watford came into the second half with renewed vigour which paid off in the 54th minute with a goal from Ismaila Sarr, who also doubled the lead in the 60h minute with a right footed shot from the right side of the box to the centre of the goal.

Liverpool’s hope for a comeback was shattered in the 72nd minute when Troy Deeney’s right footed shot from the left side of the box to the high centre of the goal beat shot-stopper Allison of Liverpool.

With the win, Liverpool remains in first position with 79 points from 28 matches while Watford moves to 17th position with 27points, same number of points with AFC Bournemonth but with superior goal advantage.

Liverpool would have set a new Premier League streak of 19 wins in a row had they collected yet another three points at Vicarage Road
