COVID19: WEST AFRICAN EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL POSTPONES MAY/JUNE WASSCE EXAMS

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has postponed until further notice the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

This was made known via an internal communication to officers in charge of the examination and signed by Osindeinde Henry who is the Officer-In-Charge (Test Administration). He quoted the Registrar of the Council as directing the suspension of the conduct of the examination for school candidates until further notice.

“I wish to inform you that in view of the negative impact of the novel and deadly COVID-19 pandemic and the need to prevent the spread of the virus, the Registrar has directed the suspension of the conduct of the WASSCE for school candidates, 2020, until further notice.

The statement further said, “The suspension includes the conduct of the National Coordination meetings, Briefing of Principals, Supervisors and Custodians”.
