NIGERIA ANNOUNCES ONE-MONTH BAN ON INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS

Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced a one-month ban on all international flights coming into Nigeria with the exemption of essential and emergency flights.

The ban was announced on Saturday afternoon via a circular to all airline operators flying into Nigeria.

The statement signed by the Director-General, Captain Musa Nuhu states that the ban will become effective on Monday, March 23rd and last till April 23rd with the closure of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and the Nnnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

THE CIRCULAR

The NCAA had earlier banned international flights from landing and take-off from the Kano, Enugu and Port-Harcourt International Airports effective 21st March, 2020.

Earlier, on Friday, Nigeria’s Minister for Aviation, Hadi Sirika had hinted the two busiest airports in Nigeria at Lagos and Abuja will be closed to international flights.
