Read Time:2 Minute, 21 Second

Tragedy was averted on Monday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, when the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Jumai Alhassan, suddenly slumped at the internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Fufore Local Government Area of the state.
Aisha Alhassan, who was on a two-day official visit to Adamawa State, slumped shortly after presenting relief materials to the IDPs and went into a big hall of the camp to inspect the consignment of the relief materials as well as having audience with some of the women.
However, barely few minutes of entrying into the hall with her crutches, the minister slumped but she was immediately rescued by some of her aides who frantically ordered that a chair be brought for her to sit down while some newsmen who were already inside the hall were directed to vacate the hall by security aides.
Immediately after, women with their wrappers, hand fans including cover of buckets and dust bin covers were freely used to fan her while no fewer than five bottles of Coca Cola drink were given the minister to cool down and apparently to increase her sugar level.
There and then, the entourage quickly left the Fufore IDPs camp to go back to her lodge to have a rest.
While addressing the IDPs, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development said she was on a fact-finding mission to the North East as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari following rampant allegations of human abuse in all the IDPs camps of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.
Aisha Alhassan assured the internally displaced persons that the Federal Government is working on modalities to ensure that they returned to their ancestral homes to begin new lives.
According to her, “President Muhammadu Buhari sent me to you people as he is highly worried about your continued staying in IDPS camps and has given you every assurance that you will soon return to your kith and kin”.
Earlier, the minister had paid a courtesy call on Governor Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow at Government House, Yola, where she admonished him to continue to assist women in his capital developmental strides.
Aisha Alhassan commended the governor on his untiring efforts in the physical development of Adamawa State through various programmes.
The minister, who expressed surprise during her movement on the eve of her arrival from the state capital, Jimeta to Yola on the good road network as well as superb street lights said, “In fact, I asked my driver whether we were on our way to Yola town because of the terrible bad nature of the road during my last visit to the state”.
Responding, Governor Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow thanked the minister for the visit and also showered encomiums on President Buhari on his efforts at putting the menace of Boko Haram to an end.
