‘My husband has started fulfilling campaign promises,’ First Lady says
First Lady, Aisha Buhari has said that her husband has started fulfilling promises made during his campaign.
Mrs Buhari also said that President Muhammadu Buhari needs the help of governors and their wives to succeed.
The First Lady made the comments on Thursday, October 27, during a visit to Benisheik, Borno State, one of the towns recaptured from Boko Haram.
“What I am after in particular is the success of my husband’s administration and he can’t do it alone except with the help of the governors, their wives and all members of our progressive party,” she said.
“We thank almighty Allah that we have started fulfilling some of the campaign promises that we made.
This is the essence of leadership; you make a promise and then fulfilled it. We thank my dear husband who makes sure peace is returning to the northeast states,” she added.
Mrs Buhari’s comments come after she attracted controversy by saying, during a BBC interview, that her husband’s government had been hijacked by a cabal.
She also said that she would not support him for re-election in 2019 if the situation wasn’t addressed before then.
