Mikel Obi agrees deal with Spanish side
According to a report in UK Independent Mikel has agreed a deal in principle to join Valencia after spending over a decade in west London.
It is however understood that Mikel’s proposed La Liga move hinges on the future of West Ham striker Simone Zaza.
The Nigerian international, who has 78 caps under his belt with the Super Eagles has been frozen out of action by Blues boss Antonio Conte since returning from the Rio Olympics.
And after failing to make a single Premier League appearance this season, Mikel is said to have agreed the outline details of a move to Mestalla after meeting with Valencia’s sporting director, Jesus Garcia Pitarch, in London.
However, the crisis-hit Spaniards must now make a big decision as Financial Fair Play restrictions mean that they won’t be able to afford to sign both Mikel and top target Simone Zaza this month.
