The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says it is sure that only intensive preparation will lead the Super Eagles through the remaining matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The NFF Executive Committee, which met Tuesday in Abuja to deliberate on the Super Eagles and other matters, said it has resolved on ensuring this was achieved.
In its communiqué after the meeting, the NFF also agreed to intensify its preparation ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying series starting in June this year.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NFF also said as part of the preparation, the Super Eagles would play two friendly matches against quality opposition in March 2017.
The communique said the Executive Committee also discussed other important issues regarding Nigerian football.
“The Committee resolved to commend the NFF Integrity Unit for some of its observations and the guidelines it rolled out recently.’’
NFF also unanimously decided that “effective from the end of the current football season, no two clubs owned or run by one Holding Company/State Government/Individual Owner shall be eligible to participate in the same League’’.
The committee further challenged all four clubs representing Nigeria in this year’s CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup not to let the country down.
NAN reports that the clubs are Rangers International FC, Rivers United FC, Wikki Tourists FC and FC IfeanyiUbah.
NFF also approved the immediate implementation of the new sharing formula of monies from registration of participating clubs in the Men and Women Federation Cup competitions.
It agreed that the new sharing formula would see 60 per cent due to the NFF and 40 per cent going to the Football Association in the various states.
The communiqué also said the Executive Committee unanimously agreed to support its President, Amaju Pinnick, in his quest for a seat on the CAF Executive Committee.
NAN reports that CAF Executive Committee elections will hold at its forthcoming 39th Ordinary Congress in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
