Iheanacho Dropped, Fellaini Sent Off As Man United Held Man City

A 10-man Manchester United side held a dominant Manchester City to a 0-0 draw in Thursday’s Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium.
Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was not in the City squad for the game.
It was a game which City bossed from start to finish but could not break down a well organized and determined United side.
The draw means City and United maintain the fourth and fifth positions respectively in the league table.
United had the first real chance of the game in the third minute but Pablo Zabaleta made a timely clearance away for a corner following a dangerous cross.
Sergio Aguero would have opened the scoring in the ninth minute but his shot came off the base of the post.
City went close to getting the first goal on 23 minutes following a brilliant run by Leroy Sane who was eventually stopped by the impressive Eric Bailly.
A minute later Claudio Bravo would have gifted United the first goal after poorly handling Anthony Martial’s cross but made amends by stopping Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s goal-bound shot.
In the 32nd minute Aguero whipped in a long range strike but David De Gea was equal to the task as he made a flying save.
City kept piling the pressure and were almost rewarded in the 36th minute but Alexandre Kolarov’s shot from long range was parried away for a corner by De Gea.
Ander Herrera had a big chance to give United the lead on the stroke of half time only to see his header from Marcos Rashford’s freekick miss the target.
City had two quick chances in less than five minutes through Raheem Sterling and Aguero but De Gea saved both attempts.
In the 58th minute Kevin De Bruyne hit a well-taken shot which took a slight deflection and went away for a corner.
With less than 15 minutes remaining Bravo sustained an injury and was replaced by Willy Caballero.
United were reduced to 10 men in the 84th ninute after Fellaini was sent for headbutting Aguero.
City had the ball in the back of the net in the 90th minute but subsitute Gabriel Jesus’ goal was ruled out for offside.
