Melaye Bags Senator of the Year 2017 Star Award
The Senate Press Corps, the official body of all accredited journalists covering the activities of the Senate in the National Assembly has voted the Senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Senator Dino Melaye, as the ‘Senator of the Year 2017’.
A press statement personally signed by Melaye on Sunday indicated that the award will be bestowed on him alongside other Senators on Monday at a dinner/award event to be chaired by a former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku.
“It is my pleasure to announce that, I, Senator Dino Melaye will on Monday, October 9, 2017 be honoured for the second time in a row as the recipient of the Senator of the Year 2017 Award.
“This special award is to be bestowed on me by no less a credible and appropriate group – the Senate Press Corps – at an award/dinner event slated for Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Abuja, which will be chaired by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who will also deliver the award/dinner lecture.
“This award, like other previous recognitions given to me this year, is dedicated to my constituents in Kogi West and the Nigerian masses in general, for whom I am holding office in trust.
“I congratulates my colleagues in the 8th Senate, who will be honoured alongside with me for emerging winners in other categories of the award while I thank the Press Corps for this honour done me,” Melaye said.
