A press statement personally signed by Melaye on Sunday indicated that the award will be bestowed on him alongside other Senators on Monday at a dinner/award event to be chaired by a former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku.
“It is my pleasure to announce that, I, Senator Dino Melaye will on Monday, October 9, 2017 be honoured for the second time in a row as the recipient of the Senator of the Year 2017 Award.
“This special award is to be bestowed on me by no less a credible and appropriate group – the Senate Press Corps – at an award/dinner event slated for Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Abuja, which will be chaired by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who will also deliver the award/dinner lecture.
“This award, like other previous recognitions given to me this year, is dedicated to my constituents in Kogi West and the Nigerian masses in general, for whom I am holding office in trust.
“I congratulates my colleagues in the 8th Senate, who will be honoured alongside with me for emerging winners in other categories of the award while I thank the Press Corps for this honour done me,” Melaye said.
