Kogi govt threatening Poly staff unions with proscription – ASUP chairman
Kogi State Government has threatened to proscribe both the Academic and Non-Academic Staff Union of Kogi State Polytechnic (ASUP/NASUP).
ASUP chairman in the institution, Comrade Boluromi Sunday, disclosed this while speaking to DAILY POST on Tuesday.
Sunday said the threat is sequel to the union’s resumption of the earlier suspended strike which commenced on 18th October 2017.
Boluromi recalled that the initial strike was suspended for four weeks to enable the government fulfil its own part of the memorandum of understanding between both unions.
He explained that government failed to honour the said agreement.
The union leader slammed the state government for failure to pay lecturers all outstanding salaries pointing that both academic and non academic staff in the institution have been living on failed promises under the Yahaya Bello administration.
Boluromi, however, called on the government to do the needful instead of issuing threats to the unions.
