Don’t allow El-Rufai take $350M loan – Bishop Bagobiri warns
The Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan in Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State, Joseph Bagobiri, has called on the people of the state not to allowed governor Nasir el-Rufai take $350 million loan.
According to the Bishop, “The loan, if granted, will only succeeded in destroying Kaduna state through what he described as reckless economic policies of El-Rufai.
“By using deceit to acquire a loan of $350million which will now make our debt profile as a state to be well over $570million will reduce all of us in the state to a state of un-pardonable servitude for perpetuity,” the Bishop said in a statement.
Bagobiri who was reacting to the $350 million loan request by El-Rufai, said: “If this is true, then we have a government in the state that is callous and insensitive to the plight of the ordinary citizens.
“It is amazing that a government that was greeted with great euphoria at its inception could turn out to be so anti- people’s welfare as this government is.
“Anything that could be done to prevent the Mallam el-Rufai’s led government from acquiring this loan should please be done. We want to see more vigorous protest against the taking of this obnoxious loan.
“This man seems poised to destroy this state through his reckless economic policies in addition to his poor handling of the fulani herdsmen terrorism in the state.”
