Boko Haram: Residents flee into bushes as terrorists invade Adamawa community
Report says the vigilante group in the town and the hunters association are assisting the military to repel the attack.
There is an ongoing gun battle between the Nigerian military and Boko Haram terrorists in a community in Adamawa State, the state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Ahmad Sajoh revealed this on Monday, November 6.
Sajoh said the terrorists invaded Gulak, the headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, and opened fire on residents as troops swung into action to engage them.
He added that the vigilante group in the town and the hunters association are assisting the military to repel the attack.
Most of the residents of the town are said to have fled into nearby bushes, mountains, and hills.
Confirming the attack to Channels TV, the Chairman of Madagali local government area, Alhaji Mohammed Yusuf, said given the magnitude of the attack, many lives would be lost.
Yusuf recalled that barely 24 hours ago, two male suicide bombers entered the home of a family in Tsilah village near Madagali and held a woman and her daughter hostage.
He said the assailant later detonated the explosives strapped to their bodies, killing themselves and the woman and her baby.
