Marseille sack Patrice Evra after kicking fan ahead of Europa League tie
Marseille have announced that they have sacked Patrice Evra for kicking a club supporter last week.
Ahead of the Europa League tie with Vitoria Guimaraes, Evra got into an argument with a travelling fan before a kick was aimed at the supporter’s head.
Marseille initially suspended Evra while an investigation was carried out, but UEFA’s decision to ban Evra from all UEFA matches until June 30 has led to the player having his contract terminated with immediate effect.
Evra had only joined Marseille at the start of 2017, with the 36-year-old making a total of 17 matches after being handed an 18-month contract by the French giants.
The former Manchester United left-back can still be signed by another team before the end of his ban, but the player is unable to feature in any fixtures in the Champions League or Europa League.
