Wilfried Bony is set to repay Swansea City on his return to the South Wales outfit.
Bony moved to his former club in a £10 million deal after his lucrative move to Manchester City did not turn out well.
The 28-year-old transferred to England in the summer of 2013 after his exploits in the Netherlands with Vitesse – where he scored 31 Eredivisie goals in the 2012-13 season – saw the Swans sanction a £12 million record transfer fee for his services.
A laudable return of 35 goals in two seasons across all competition saw the marksman caught the attention of Manchester City – where he failed to replicate his form and was shipped out on loan to Stoke City.
Now back at the Liberty Stadium, where he made a name for himself, the striker is keen to repay the faith shown in him.
“I never had doubts about coming back here. As soon as the club made contact with me I said: ‘Yes, I will come’,” said Bony.
“I had offers from other clubs in foreign countries, but the best for me was I wanted to stay in the Premier League, and the best club for me was this one.
“It was Swansea who gave me everything that I am now. So I just needed to come back and do my best for them to see the Bony they bought for the first time.
“I am motivated and I am fit. I just need the games to get back. If today was more lucky the first goal would have brought confidence.”
His season has not gone according to plan having been plagued by injury, but, now back in action, Bony will be looking forward to his first goal this season when 19th-placed Swansea face Chelsea in Wednesday’s English Premier League action.
