Ndidi Stars As Leicester Edge Newcastle; Iheanacho Benched, Musa Left Out

Read Time:1 Minute, 20 Second

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was on from the start for Leicester City as they recorded their third straight win in the English Premier League, coming from a goal down to defeat Newcastle United 3-2 at St James Park on Saturday.
Ndidi’s compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho was and unused substitute for the third straight league game while Ahmed Musa was left out of the matchday squad.
Riyad Mahrez, Demarai Gray and Ayoze Pérez (own goal) scored for visitors with Joselu and Dwight Gayle scoring for the hosts.
The win moved Leicester City up to eighth in the EPL table with 23 points from 16 games.
Joselu Newcastle the lead after six minutes, but Mahrez restored parity for the Foxes in the 20th minute.
The Algerian winger collected a pass from Ndidi in the centre of the pitch and surged forward before unleashing a thunderous shot which beat Karl Darlow from 25 yards out.
The second half came to life in the 60th minute as Gray made it 2-1 as his deflected shot off Florian Lejeune flew into the top left-hand corner of the net.
Gayle then saw his 73rd minute shot deflected off Harry Maguire into the bottom corner past Kasper Schmeichel to make it 2-2 but Pérez’s own goal four minutes from time means the Magpies are without a win in their last six matches, leaving them just two points outside of the relegation zone.
