Kastina State Governor, Aminu Masari signs 2018 budget into law
Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State, on Wednesday, signed the state’s 2018 budget of N213,636,773,378.00 into law with a declaration that his intention “is to leave behind an enduring legacy in the state.”
The budget, which was earlier passed in the day by members of the state House of Assembly, is N2bn over the budget estimate of N211,497,191,095.00, presented to the House about a month ago by the governor.
The governor said, “We believe that this budget will add value to the lives of people of Katsina State. Our focus is our people. Within the period of our stewardship, we have done our best to improve the lives of our people. In Katsina, we are one family, so we have no reason to fail.
“We want to leave an enduring legacy behind through our services to the people. What we want is to leave a legacy that future generations would say of us that we came, we saw and we added value to the lives of our people.
“We appreciate our lawmakers for their wonderful job and for keeping to their words that they will see to the passage of the budget estimate within a month. This is commendable. A Parliament that is working does not necessarily need to be confrontational with the executive. Rather, the parliament work in tandem with the executive without sacrificing its independence.
“And, together with our parliament, we shall deliver quality service to our people.”
