Jide Kosoko says “The Royal Hibiscus Hotel” is a cinema therapy
Jide Kosoko says “The Royal Hibiscus Hotel” is more than a comedy movie. He considers it a cinema therapy.
The movie is about a Nigerian couple who run a hotel in Nigeria. In the movie, Kosoko is Segun, a desperate husband, who decides to sell the hotel without his wife’s knowledge to clear their debts.
One of the most anticipated Nollywood movies of 2018, Zainab Balogun described “The Royal Hotel Hibiscus” as a warm movie, suitable for the season.
For Kosoko, “The Royal Hotel Hibiscus” is more than a romantic comedy – It’s a cinema therapy.
“I must tell you that this is a special film. It’s a cinema therapy. It will go a long way, not only to make people laugh, but it will sink into them that love isn’t limited to any age: Love cuts across all ages,” he told Pulse Nigeria.
“Our viewers will get to realize the need for romance at any point in time. Look at my character Segun, the man was in financial crisis, but if he continued like that without a sort of relief from his wife in terms of romance, maybe he would have collapsed.”
The movie is produced by EbonyLife Films, a production company that has, with box office successes such as “Fifty” and “The Wedding Party,” proven to be a commercial phenomenon.
A factor which Kosoko thinks will play a role in the box office success of “The Royal Hotel Hibiscus.”
“It is a different production entirely, coupled with the fact that the production company, EbonyLife Films, has been tested and trusted. That would work for the film,” the actor said.
“The Royal Hotel Hibiscus,” just like other EbonyLife Films, will make its debut during a celebratory season – Valentines Day. Kosoko describes the movie as the best gift they could have given their fans.
“And I tell you what? It is coming out at the Valentines Day period. This is the best gift that we are giving our numerous fans.”
The movie is directed by Ishaya Bako and stars Kosoko alongside Rachel Oniga, Zainab Balogun, Deyemi Okanlawon, Kenneth Okolie, Akah Nnani, Kemi Lala Akindoju among others.
“The Royal Hotel Hibiscus” had its world premiere at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.
Pulse Nigeria had listed the movie as one of the most anticipated movies of 2018.
