Senate Moves To Probe NNPC, LNG, Over Alleged Monumental Fraud

The Senate ‎has directed it’s committee on Pubic Account and Oil and Gas to carry out a holistic investigation into allegations of monumental corruption involving the NNPC and the Brass LNG
This was sequel to a motion moved by Sen Dino Melaye from Kogi West who alleged Monumental corruption at NNPC Joint Venture.

Sen Melaye had in the body of the motion said from the Memorandum of Understanding, the Brass LNG is supposed to be a Joint ‎ Venture Company with the NNPC having the controlling shares and their account domicile with the CBN.
Melaye who queried why the company opened its account with keystone bank instead of the CBN alleged that the account which has no BVN was allegedly used to illegally withdraw four million dollars in November of 2016.
National Assembly correspondent Folashade Abdulsalami reports that the Lawmaker therefore called for urgent need to define the position of the company operation in order to halt the seeming corruption. ‎‎
The Senate however ordered the two committee to commence investigation into the level of corruption that has taken place, given it four weeks to report back to the Senate.
Part of the prayers requested by the senate includes; the status of investment and principal objective of the company, the signatories to the account, the status of federal government investment, the returns on investment and the need to ascertain if due process was followed in the formation and appropriation of shares in the company.
