NIGERIA COACH ROHR REACTS TO MOROCCO THRASHING, FAULTS COACH SALISU
Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr took a slight dig at his assistant and CHAN
Eagles coach Salisu Yusuf for his poor tactics which he said was
partly the reason for Nigeria’s heavy 4-0 thrashing at the hands of
hosts Morocco at the just concluded African Nations Championship.
Nigeria where well beaten by the host in the final, and Rohr who was
in the stands during the game admitted that the Moroccans deserve to
win as they were better than their Nigerian counterparts.
He however said the weather played a role in the win achieved by
Morocco, but despite praising the the Salisu Yusuf lead technical
crew, the Franco-German coach also faulted their approach to the game.
“No disappointment at all. Morocco was much better than us. Our boys
lack good tactic and are not used to playing in such cold conditions.
After 48 minutes, the game was lost,” Rohr said upon arrival in
Nigeria.
“They finished second which is a big surprise. The attitude of the
team and staff was excellent. No disappointment everybody tried his
best,” he concluded.
