Ronaldo Hits Hat-trick As Real Madrid Trounce Real Sociedad
Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad 5-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday to continue their push for a top four finish in the Spanish La Liga.
Cristiano Ronaldo got a hat-trick for the Los Merengues, while Lucas Vasquez and Toni Kroos were also on target for the home team.
Jon Bautista and and Asier Illaramendi scored Real Sociedad’s goal
Zinedine Zidane made two changes to the team that started against Levante last weekend, with Marco Asensio and Vazquez coming in for Casemiro and Gareth Bale.
Karim Benzema kept his spot at centre-forward despite scoring just two league goals this season.
Real Madrid took the lead in the first minute through Lucas Vasquez who nodded home Cristiano Ronaldo’s cross.
The hosts piled on the pressure afterwards and were rewarded for their positive play in the 28th when Marcelo drilled in an excellent low cross that was diverted into the net by Ronaldo
Germany midfielder Toni Kroos increased the scoreline seven minutes later, firing the ball into the top corner.
Ronaldo got his second and Real Madrid’s fourth of the game three minutes later, nodding home Kroos’ corner.
Bautista reduced the deficit for Real Sociedad in the 74th minute.
Ronaldo however completed his hat-trick nine minutes from time converting from close range after Geronimo Rulli palmed Gareth Bale’s shot into his path.
The hat-trick is Ronaldo’s 33rd in LaLiga.
Sociedad made the scoreline more respectable again with Illaramendi grabbing the visitors’ second of the night.
