AWONIYI ENDS GOAL DROUGHT WITH BRACE AGAINST STANDARD LIEGE
On loan Liverpool Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi ended his goal drought for his loan side Mouscron in some style by netting a brace in their 3-4 loss to Standard Liege.
Awoniyi last goal was scored on the 24th of November last year in their 1-3 loss away to Gent, but he showed no nerves when he drew his side level in the 19th minute.
The game became fiesty when Christain Luyindama who scored the opening goal for Standard Liege was sent off for two bookable offence. Awoniyi took advantage of the numerical strength to put his side 3-2 up with his second goal of the game in the 76 minute.
He was yellow carded for taking off his jersey during his celebration for the goal which was his 6th of the season, and it got worst for him when Standard Liege drew level with three minutes remaining before they completed an amazing turn around with what ended as the winner one minute from full time.
Both teams were reduced to ten men when Mouscron midfielder Omar Govea was sent off in time added on for two bookable offence to bring to an end a game that saw seven goals, seven yellow cards and two red cards.
