MAIKABA CONFIDENT AKWA UNITED CAN BEAT HAWKS BANJUL IN GAMBIA AFTER HOME DEFEAT
Technical adviser of Akwa United, Abdu Maikaba has apologised to the supporters of the club as well as Nigerians for the Promise Keeper shock 2-1 defeat by Hawks Banjul of Gambia in Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup first round first leg match in Uyo.
Maikaba who has been lusted by the NFF Technical and Development Committee as Nigeria U20 national teach handler said they have not cone to the exit door or their continental silverware aspiration, insisting they can still turn the table this weekend in Banjul.
“We paid dearly for our costly mistakes but we have learnt from them”, Maikaba said emotionally.
“We have put it behind and are looking forward to the return leg match.
“I’m sure those mistakes won’t happen again. If they can score two here, we too can score even more there because I know we have a good team who can deliver.
“However, we must have to apologise to Nigerians and the supporters for the disappointment”, Maikaba begged.
Akwa United won the Federation Cup for the second time last year and are currently top on the NPFL standings.
