The Senate has directed its committee on banking ,finance and other financial institutions to look into the closure of a hotel owned by former Nigerian Footballer Kanu Nwankwo by the Assets Management Company of Nigeria .

The decision was taken after the consideration of a point of order 43 of the Senate raised on Tuesday by the Senate Deputy Majority Leader, Bala Ibn Na’llah.

Leading debate on the matter, Sen Ibn Na’llah noted the deterioration of the Papilo kanu’s heart foundation expressing  worries that the action of AMCON may affect the running of the Kanu Heart Foundation which is supposed to be funded from proceeds from the hotel.

National Assembly correspondent Folashade Abdulsalami reports that the Lawmaker while applauding Kanu for his service to the country, urged the Senate to investigate the closure of the Lagos based hotel.

President of the Senate Bukola Saraki in response said that the footballer has done his part for Nigeria and that it is the turn of the country the assist him.

He noted that the hotel was said to have taken a bank loan without the knowledge of the footballer, a deal which led to the seizure of the hotel by AMCON.‎

The Kanu Heart Foundation was established to help underprivileged African children and young adults, living with different heart ailments in Nigeria and other African countries respectively.‎
