HOUSE OF REPS DIRECT SUSPENSION OF FUND TO LAKE CHAD BASIN COMMISSION.
House of Representatives has directed the immediate suspension of Nigeria’s contributions to the Lake Chad Basin Commission.
House also mandated the Committee oversighting the Commission to ensure no fund is allocated to the agency in the 2018 Appropriation.
These were sequel to a point of order raised under matter of urgent national importance, on Thursday at the plenary session by Hon. Chika Adamu who said there was need to address abuse of the authority of the House by the Commission’s Executive Secretary.
House of Representatives correspondent, Linda Ike reports that the Lawmaker referred to the House resolution of 9th November, 2016 directing probe into allegations of mismanagenent of fund in the commission noting that more than a year after, the Commission is yet to honour House’s many invitations to that effect.

Parts of the resolutions on the motion includes a directive that the Water Resources Ministry should issue a letter mandating Sanusi Abdullah, to handover to newly appointed head of the Commission with immediate effect.
