House of Representatives has instituted investigation into alleged N2.4 billion contract awarded to Ulam Nigeria limited by National Emergency Management Agency.
The house further alleged that the Director General of NEMA awarded the contract to companies he has personal interest in, thereby violating the agency’s approval limits by awarding contracts to a single firm without due process.
These were sequel to a motion raised by Hon. Benjamin Wayo (APC, Benue) under matters of urgent importance on Thursday during plenary.
He also alleged that officials of the agency usually siphoned the funds received from National Ecological Fund through dubious award of contracts without delivering relief items to the victims.
House of Representatives correspondent, Linda Ike, reports that the lawmaker further expressed worries that the agency is the only federal agency that has an air ambulance that turned it into commercial use without remitting proceeds to government coffers.
