LEON BALOGUN’S FUTURE AT MAINZ UNCERTAIN
Nigeria international Leon Balogun’s future at German Bundesliga club Mainz is uncertain. This after the defender failed to confirm if he will be with the club next season. The towering player has been linked with German sides such as Hannover 96, Werder Bremen, Fortuna Düsseldorf and SV Darmstadt 98
“No, I want to have clarity in any case first. I’m going to be 30 years old in summer,” Balongun told T Online.
Balogun is hoping to be part of the Nigeria squad at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals which will be hosted by Russia between June and July.
“So it would be presumptuous not to clarify my future before the tournament,” he added.
“I am already in talks with those responsible here in Mainz and can definitely imagine staying.”
Balogun has made only 10 appearances in the Bundesliga for Mainz this season.
