MESSI’S ARGENTINA TEAM TO BEAT BUT OUR TEAM IS POWERFUL – BRIAN IDOWU
Nigeria international Brian Idowu has named the Super Eagles’ key players ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.
The global tournament will be hosted by Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018.
The Super Eagles were pitted against South American heavyweights Argentina and European sides Iceland and Croatia in Group D.
Idowu, who plays for Amkar Perm in Russia, made his debut for Nigeria as they beat Argentina 4-2 in an international friendly game last November.
The left-footed player believes that Nigeria will do well in their group.
“We got a hard group. The standout team is Argentina,” Idowu told Soviet Sport.
“Lionel Messi is an alien! But with Croats and Icelanders, we have a chance.
“Our team is powerful. Obi Mikel won all that is possible when he played for Chelsea,” the left-back added.
“Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi are doing well at Leicester City.”
The Super Eagles will face Croatia in their first game in Kaliningrad on the 16th of June 2018.
