Where is Wakanda? Location and flag of Black Panther’s homeland
Black Panther has been a runaway success at the box office and amongst the critics as the Marvel movie stuns audiences across the globe. The awesome cast, led by Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong’o have been widely praised, as has director Ryan Coogler. Interest has also grown in the setting of the film – the African nation Wakanda.
To answer the obvious question, no, Wakanda is not a real place, but it does have a specific location at which it exists in the movie. There has been some debate over the location of Wakanda, but we do know that it is in East Africa. Some of the comics varied in its exact position, but the general consensus is that it is on or very close to Lake Turkana, which is in northern Kenya.

In reality, this area which borders Ethiopia, South Sudan and Uganda is largely desert, in contrast to the greenery and technological advances of the fictional country. Wakanda’s location was also confirmed in an Easter Egg in Iron Man 2 as it was shown on a map behind Tony Stark having a chat with Nick Fury.

What is the flag of Wakanda?
The flag of the fictional country is green with a red stripe across the middle and a symbol of a panther’s face in the middle. The panther’s face is red on a black circle background with yellow eyes.

The capital of Wakanda is Birnin Zana and there are 18 united tribes in the country. It is supposed to be the most technologically advanced country on the planet and is said never to have been conquered.
