MIKEL OFF TO SOLID START IN 2018 CHINESE SUPER LEAGUE SEASON
Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel saw his Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda begin their 2018 season with a solid 1-1 home draw against Hebei CFFC.
The Super Eagles star played the full 90 minutes for the home side on Saturday at the Tianjin Tuanbo Soccer Stadium.
Tianjin claimed the lead in the 25th minute through Hui Jiakang and looked to be on course for a winning start to the campaign.
However, Hebei hit back late in the game to earn a share of the spoils, with Zhang Chendong netting in the 86th minute to make it 1-1.
Mikel will hope he continues to keep his place in the Tianjin starting XI under coach Uli Stielike when they play away to Henan Jianye next Sunday, March 11.
