CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: MFM beat MC Alger to take first-leg advantage
Mountain of Fire and Miracles Football Club, (MFM FC) of Lagos recorded a slim 2-1 win against MC Alger in the first leg of their CAF Champions League, first round fixture at the Agege Stadium, Lagos
Wednesday.
The Nigerian team’s early goal had been cancelled out almost immediately by the Algerians with a goal of their own, leaving MFM needing an extra cushion ahead the second leg.
But Monsuru Bashiru’s second goal would prove to be the winner as action in the game reached a crescendo. Even though the Nigerian team and it’s fans enjoyed a sense of relief, the reality of a very dicey
encounter away is not lost on them as MFM would be wary of the away goals rule trap in the second leg in faraway Algeria in a fortnight.
