On loan Manchester City forward Thierry Ambrose has praised the
presence of Nigerian forward Sadiq Umar as the reason why he is
experiencing an upturn of form for Dutch side NAC Breda.
Sadiq joined the Dutch side on loan till the end of the season ‎from
Italian side Roma after terminating his loan deal with Torino, where
he spent the first half of the season on loan but injuries and fitness
issues reduced him to few games.
Ambrose who is on a season long loan deal from Man City joined Breda
in the summer, but his form has improved tremendously following the
signing of the Nigerian, who is now his strike partner at the modest
Dutch side, and their partnership has helped the team picked up three
straight wins in the league.
Jololo as the Nigerian is called by friends and teammates, has
provided two assists to the Man City loanee, and he also won a penalty
which the forward conceded in their last weekend 2-0 win over ADO Den
Haag in the Eredivisie.
“The presence of Sadiq has helped me a lot. I feel good and have more
confidence. He brings what I could not bring. He holds the ball and
makes good running actions. With Sadiq I no longer feel alone in the
attack, so I can focus on the second ball instead of standing and
feeling alone in the box,” the soon to be 21 year old revealed in an
interview published on Bndestem.nl.
“With Sadiq the pressure of scoring is shared between us and for me
that’s better. Left, right or in the centre, that makes no difference
to me.”
