WHAT DO YOU DRIVE?
There is no doubt that the Nigerian road is filled with second hand cars from America and Europe, reason being that very few among us can afford to buy brand new cars because of the financial state of the average man on the streets. Despite that, I must commend the Lagos state government for providing BRT buses for the population that cannot afford cars and the issues that come with owning one.
For those of us that own cars, we do so for certain reasons, personally I drive a second hand s-type Jaguar 2002 model because I love luxury but I cannot afford to buy the latest. Frankly, I have driven Toyota, Nissan and Honda but what I have found out is that the technology used in making these products are copies of the standard set by the luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar and a host of others. What I have also realized is that these Asian cars are designed for the masses who cannot afford to buy the luxury brands. When I bought my jaguar I bought because of its handling and firm grip on the road. It was something that the brand new Asian brands lacked, it was as if these Asian cars were just designed to take me to and fro my destination not considering my safety. I have a friend who was a huge fan of Honda but he died in an accident driving that Honda.
I must state that this is a personal opinion and it is subject to criticism but in my own humble way I still like my luxury brands even if it is ten years down the line of its production because the quality of drive I get is beyond the Asian brands on the Nigerian road today. That said, what do you drive and why do you drive it?
