NIGERIA’S ALUKO NOMINATED FOR GOAL OF THE MONTH IN ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP
Nigeria international Sone Aluko’s brilliant solo goal has been nominated for the English Championship Goal of the Month for March, 2018.
The marksman scored the goal against Queens Park Rangers and his club, Reading went on to win 1-0 at the Madejski Stadium last weekend.
The Reading striker is up against Cardiff City centre-half Sol Bamba of Ivory Coast and Millwall winger Ben Marshal of England.
A club statement read: “Sone Aluko’s cracking effort against Queens Park Rangers has been voted as the Cherwell Software Goal of the Month through the votes of our fans.”
“He had to fend off competition with two good goals by Jón Daði Böðvarsson and Sam Smith… but Aluko’s run and finish meant that it wasn’t even close.”
“And such was the quality of the strike, Sone’s firecracker is also in the running for the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month for March 2018.”
“He has competition in the form of Cardiff City centre-half Sol Bamba and Millwall winger Ben Marshall, who each put in worthy efforts in their games too.”
Aluko has netted three goals in 33 matches for Reading this season.
