Gold Coast 2018: Team Nigeria Climb To 8th In Medal Table

It was a fruitful day nine for Team Nigeria as they moved up to the eighth position in the medal table at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games on Friday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Team Nigeria claimed four gold, one silver and three bronze medals to climb in the medal table.
Oluwatobiloba Amusan and Suwaibidu Galadima both won gold in the women’s 100 metres hurdles and men’s T47 100 metres, Odunayo Adekuoroye and Blessing Oborodudu each picked gold, while Blessing Onyebuchi won silver in women’s wrestling.
Also in wrestling, Amas Daniel won bronze in the men’s category and the duo of Yetunde Odunuga and Milicent Agboegbulem clinched bronze in boxing.
South Africa continued to be Africa’s highest ranked country as they are fifth on 13 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze medal.
Uganda is 14th with three gold, two bronze, Kenya are 15th with two gold, five silver and six bronze. Botswana is in joint-17th with two gold, one silver, while Mauritius is joint-28th on one silver.
Other African countries in the medal table are Cameroon, Ghana and Seychelles who all have just one bronze each and are in joint-33rd.
Leading in the medal standings is host Australia on 65 gold, 49 silver and 54 bronze.
In second position is England with 31 gold, 34 silver, 34 bronze; India is in third spot with 17 gold, 11 silver, 14 bronze and Canada is fourth on 14 gold, 34 silver and 26 bronze.
