REPS CALLS FOR ATTENTION ON SECURING PLACES OF PRIMARY ASSIGNMENT FOR CORPS MEMBERS
The House of Representatives has called for the need to address the inability to secure places of primary assignments by National Youth Service Corps members.
This followed a motion on the matter moved on Tuesday at plenary by Hon. Bolaji Anyila ( APC, Lagos State).
Moving the motion, Hon. Anyila stated that recently, many National Youth Service Corps members find it difficult to secure places of primary assignments as the organizations they are posted to, often reject them on the ground that either they cannot provide for them or don’t need their services.
House of Representatives Correspondent, Linda Ike reports that the House stated that the rejection of the service of youth corps members leaves them frustrated as in some cases, they send months searching for where they would be accepted to serve.
The House however mandated the Committee on Youth Development, to investigate the matter with a view to proffer solutions and report back within four weeks for further legislative actions.
In another development, the House passed for second reading bill for an act to amend the Electricity Power Sector Reform Act, Cap E7 , Laws of the federation if Nigeria 2004.
It was noted that the bill if passed into law, the Act would prohibit and criminalize estimated billing by electricity distribution companies and provide for compulsory installation of pre-paid meters to all powers consumers in Nigeria.
The bill was being sponsored by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
