There is no doubt that the World Cup has been the elusive tournament to both Ronaldo and Messi. Having had successful careers at the club level both players have had a bit of a not so glamorous career internationally owing to the world cup’s stiff competition and teams of dogged players with a desire to win rather than a star man who wants to outshine his team mates.
Whoever is bold enough to walk in the principle of team effort is on his way to glory. There would certainly be upsets and disappointments, a number of close calls and near shaves, in the end it is the World Cup it only happens every four years such is the thrills and excitements that drives the adrenaline of the great footballers of the earth who have lifted this trophy in glory. From the old generation of rivalry between Pele and Maradona, who have both lifted the World Cup to Platini, Zico, Maldini, Canavaro, Zidane, Ronaldo de Lima, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho, the list is endless.
32 nations coming together to battle it out for one trophy. The lives of the winners have definitely never been the same as a result of the accolades and prestige that come with the honor.
