Senate Urges FG To Intensify Efforts For The Release Leah Sharibu From Boko Haram

The Senate has urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts to secure the release of Leah Sharibu, the only Dapchi Schoolgirl that is still in Boko Haram captivity yet to be released.
The lawmakers are also seeking expedited action by government to secure the release of the remaining Chibok Schoolgirls that are still in the custody of Boko Haram Insurgents.
These resolutions followed a motion on “2018 Children’s Day Celebration” sponsored by Chairman Senate Committee on Women Affairs, Sen. Binta Masi and Nine others on Thursday during plenary session.
National Assembly Correspondent Folashade Abdulsalami reports that the Adamawa senator further explained that the Nigerian Child played a  significant role in the development of the country adding that there was need to lay a good foundation for them and secure their future.
‎Other lawmakers in their contributions to the debate decried the number of out of school children across the country.
They therefore called for commitment in the implementation of the various Acts related with children issues to stem the trend.
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki however urged his colleagues to continue to live up to the responsibility of ensuring that they showed love and care to the Nigerian Child.
He also called for the laying of a foundation for a bright future for the children.
In the meantime, Saraki queried why some States àre yet to pass into law the Child Rights Act, Saraki urging such states to ensure speedy passage of the bill in the interest of Nigerian child. END.
