Former Governor Jailed For Corruption Charges

Former governor of Taraba state, Rev. Jolly Nyame will serve 14 years behind the bars. Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the FCT high Court sentenced the former governor in a judgement that lasted more than four hours.
Nyame who was governor of Taraba at three different times was found guilty of 27 count charge out of 45 brought against him by the EFCC.
The case with started in June 2007 dragged for over 10 years.
Justice Banjoko while delivering judgement says Nyame and his cronies while in office “behaved like common thieves”,”. “There is a crazy level of corruption in the ministry of finance while the defendant was in office” the judge added.
Jolly Nyame given 14 years sentence for criminal breach of trust, 7 years for graft, 5 years for obtaining valuables in corrupt manner and 2 years for criminal misappropriation of state funds. The sentence are to run concurrently.
