President Buharis Assures More Secured and Prosperous Nation.
President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians of a more secure and prosperous nation.
He gave the assurance on Monday at the 2018 Democracy Day lecture held in Abuja.
President Buhari, who spoke about his administration’s achievements in the last three years urged Nigerians to keep faith with the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration as it continues its fight against corruption.
Correspondent Marian Enakhimion reports that Nigerians were therefore urged to remain steadfast and keep faith with administration as the APC led government will remain committed to peace building and good governance.
The leaderships of the National Assembly however urged Nigerians not to take democracy for granted but rather put the interest of the nation first.
They also charged Nigerians to ensure that the 2019 elections are better conducted than that of 2015 noting that the responsibility of elections is not solely that of INEC but a collective effort of the citizenry.
In the meantime, the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission-INEC, prof. Attahiru Jega accused most members of the national assembly of seeking bribes in order to perform their constitutional duties as legislature stressing that some committee chairmen are notoriously guilty of the bribe seeking.
The lecture was however well attended by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele and some other top government personalities.
