Former Super Eagles midfielder, Austin Okocha says Nigerians should
set a target of qualifying from the group stage for the Super Eagles
rather than expecting too much from the team.
The midfield maestro who was a guest in a radio programme monitored in
Lagos on Thursday noted that the current Super Eagles squad do not
have too much experience going to the World Cup.
He said: “Most of them are going there for the first time. They should
enjoy the moment and put up their best performance”
“Experience is the best teacher and I believe that we should not
expect too much from the team in Russia. We should set a realistic
target for them. First, qualify from the group. Then, can they take it
on from there”
“It is possible that they may not have the opportunity to play at the
World Cup again after this, so they should try to make a good use of
it,” he added.
The Eagles recent performance in their pre-World Cup friendlies has
ignited fresh questions about their ability to progress in a group
where they are the least ranked team.
