Nigeria teenage sensation Samuel Chukwueze has been promoted to Villarreal’s first team after an impressive debut season with the Yellow Submarines which has seen him score over 10 goals for Villarreal’s cadet teams.
According to a source close to Chukwueze, the former Arsenal target will be going on pre-season tour with the Villarreal first team ahead of the 2018/2019 La Liga season.
The 19-year-old midfielder has been in an impressive form since moving to Spain after his wildly publicised transfer to Arsenal collapsed, and cut the eye of the first team handlers after netting a stunning solo goal and providing an assist in the quarter-final first-leg of Villarreal’s team B 3-2 aggregate win over Athletic Bilboa in the Segunda play off.
Chukwueze started the season with the Spanish side’s U19 team and also played for the team C, but after an impressive campaign which saw him net seven goals playing from the wings including a stunning hat-trick in an 8-3 win over UCD Murcia, the club decided to promote him to the team B.
He didn’t stop there however, continuing his goal scoring form for the team B in their run to the Segunda play-off final where they lost Elche.
The former Diamond Academy player was an integral member of Nigeria’s team that won the U17 World Cup in 2015 where he won the Bronze Boot.
He is expected to join up with Paul Aigbogun’s Flying Eagles team at their camp after the play off next month for the African Youth Championship qualifiers.
