Former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell to stand trial

Friday’s ruling, issued by investigative judge Carman Lemela, relates to the sale of television rights for Brazil matches.
Rosell, his wife and four others are to stand trial at a later date, with evidence suggesting that the 54-year-old misappropriated money coming from the sale of the TV rights, as well as sponsorship money in a deal between Nike and the Brazil national side.
The judge alleges that the ex-Barca chief played a part in laundering around €15m (£13.2m) from the TV rights and a further €5m (£4.4m) from the Nike contract.
Rosell, president of the Catalan giants between 2010 and 2014, has the right to appeal the trial within the next 10 days.
